All you have to do is select the partition size and hit install and everything else is taken care of.

The system automatically downloads all the necessary drivers and prepares the install partition for you. You'll still want a USB soundcard or headset connected to receive audio, but it should work. All you need is an iso disk image of Windows which you can download directly from Microsoft. The good news is that 2015 and newer Macs no longer require a USB flash drive to perform the install. You must partition the drive and install that way. You can't install Windows to an external drive. The answer to the question regarding installing Windows on a 2015 MacBook Air is yes.
I will not be purchasing a new Mac, so Big Sur is most likely my last version of macOS on this 2013 MacBook Air. It's serious and silly issues like this that are driving me away from the Mac platform. I've reported the issue to Apple Accessibility and would encourage everyone else to do the same.
